Daycare options in the Devonshire catchment are slim and hard to come-by. There is a facebook group for Devonshire parents looking for daycare leads, but I thought I'd put together the daycare options in a more general spot.
Please add any leads/ideas/space openings/etc...

On Thursday I received notice from the City of a consultation process for the child care wait list system, as changes are expected to align with new provincial requirements. It appears that in Sepember 2014 the City's role will focus on age 0-4 years (since the schools will be addressing school age kids as part of the final move to full day daycare). There is a detailed report on the city website app05.ottawa.ca/SIREPub/iphonemtgviewer.aspx?meetid=2333#doctype=agenda&itemid=128232. It is not completely clear to me what the implications are so I won't speculate. However parents with young kids not in school in Sept 2014 who will need child care will likely want to learn more about this. Consultations start at the end of May. Registration is being taken due to limited space. fluidsurveys.com/s/Child_Care/

Will you need care for your SK child in 2013/14? A friendly reminder that if you are a parent whose child will be attending senior kindergarten at Devonshire in 2013/14 and if you require after-school care, you may want to register your child on the City's Centralized Waiting List for the Devonshire School Aged Program (DSAP). DSAP is a non-profit licensed child-care centre that has operated out of Devonshire Community Public School for more than 25 years. In April 2013, our program expanded to add 10 additional kindergarten spots to accommodate the demand in the community. Senior kindergarten students who are registered in an afternoon SK class at Devonshire will currently be given priority, as our spots for children who will be attending a morning SK class at Devonshire are currently all filled for September 2013. To register for a spot, please visit www.childcareinformation.ca and select DSAP in Ward 15 as an option. Please do not contact the daycare centre directly. Have a great summer.
