Andrea, Kelly and Mia,
Your speaking points were nicely said and persuasive (at least to me). I just wanted to encourage you to emphasize, if you get the opportunity, the number of children and schools that are affected. If I read the guidelines correctly, a full accommodation review is required if 50% of a school is affected. Since our key goal here is to encourage a broader review, it is very important to emphasize the number of kids that will be affected. The board then may feel that they have no choice but to order a full review.
Even though the number falls under the 50% threshold based on the staff existing proposals, please find an opportunity to point out the broader impact. For example: - hundreds of children will be affected; - the current proposal affects the students of 4 schools; - adding an elementary school to Fisher presumably would have a dramatic affect on all of the students of that school as it changes the nature of that school completely.
I believe that the board will be more inclined to grant the full accommodation review if we can show that there is a significant impact on a large number of students, which cannot be adequately assessed in the accelerated review process currently being proposed.
Obviously the other key factor that should be persuasive to the board is that there are other viable options that aren't being considered under this limited process, which you have already stressed in your submissions.
