Hey everyone - I thought I would start a thread for discussion of the Interim Solution. I'll post some stuff here as I find it and please feel free to post your own thoughts and ideas, or start a new thread.

There has been some discussion at meetings about using the daycare space as classroom space. Unfortunately it is not as easy as it might seem, and may have complicated implications for the future of the daycare and their ability to provide extended care once we transition to FDK in 2014. Here's what the board posted this weekend:

I thought I read somewhere that the notes would be made available...? Any indication which way parents and/or the board seem to be leaning?

The meeting on the 23rd was pretty much a venting session for the parents. The ideas put forth that night are all over the place (in no particular order):
- putting more portables at Elmdale
- reducing DSAP space by one or two classrooms
- putting a portable at Devonshire
- moving the 6's to Connaught/Fisher
- EFI dual track at Connaught/Hilson
- moving the JK's to Connaught for a year

I'm probably missing a few ideas but those are a few I heard more than once that night. The vibe I get is that the Board is leaning towards putting the 6's at Fisher but I'm honestly not sure. In terms of parent favorites, I couldn't tell you. Everyone I talk to has a different idea and I haven't heard one come up most often. The Board did make a commitment to releasing the notes from that meeting but I didn't see them actually taking notes so who knows.

I've seen some quite detailed discussion of possible interim options on an email thread or two and I just want to encourage everyone who hasn't already done so to send their opinions to the Board for consideration.

I know people already realize this but I have to say it again. Please keep in mind that there isn't going to be one solution that will satisfy everyone. I have a particular solution that makes sense in my mind, and I have seen some ideas I completely disagree with. Not everyone will find whatever the Board decides workable.
